Cosori Air Fryer Design
Most of the air fryers you see in the market have simplistically boring designs. And frankly speaking, these appliances are not racing for design; instead, they do what they are meant to do. Cosori Airfryer has a black exterior with a large and bulky footprint, having dimensions 11.8 x 11.8 x 12.7 (LWH) without the handle. The handle sticks out of the large-sized basket.
Cosori has one of the large capacities with a 5.8 quarts basket that can hold a large amount of food for the family, so it takes more counter space. The smooth digital control panel has a timer, and temperature display and all the preset touch buttons have symbols/icons of food printed on it. The display shuts off and goes blank when it’s not in use.
The basket is layered. The inner basket where you place your food has vents that help the air circulate, due to which the food gets a crispy brown layer on all sides. The outer basket collects oil and grease drips.
Both baskets are dishwasher safe and are non-stick, so you won’t have to scrape the food from the basket, and the cleaning is also a breeze.
Specs and Presets
Cosori has a whopping temperature setting range of 170 – 400° F, giving you enough scope to try various recipes and get a crispy even browning. Cosori is a pretty powerful air fryer with 1700 watts of power to cook rapidly and efficiently. The timer can be set from 1 to 60 minutes, enough time for most of the recipes.
11 presets include various options such as chicken, fish, carrot, frozen foods and more. You can also manually set the time and temperature or increase and decrease the time. “Preheat” and “keep warm” settings are also added to the digital display.
Set Up App and Alexa
The Cosori Air fryer can be set up by using the app “Vesync.” Once you have downloaded the app, the other processes are simple, and the app guides you through each step to connect it to Alexa or Google Assistant and cook it with voice commands.
With the app, you can select the recipe, and the time and temperature will automatically be set on the air fryer. From there, you can also turn off preheat time, or a “shake the food” reminder if you have only one layer of food.
In practice, it is rather easier and practical only to use the app or the touch buttons on the air fryer and not to hurl instructions to Alexa. In fact, the app also requires you to press the “start” button physically for safety purposes, so you can ditch using it altogether.
Cooking Performance
The basket can hold 6 pounds of food, but we didn’t stack our nuggets and chicken pieces for better browning. The basket is square, so more food fits in it already. An added bonus for not stacking was that we didn’t have to shake it during the cooking process to get even browning. The toasts, French fries and chicken pieces all got cooked thoroughly with crisp brown layers.
Presets helped us in setting the time and temperature and were really convenient.
During the whole cooking process, the exterior remained cool to touch; many toaster ovens with built-in air fryers get so hot that you can hurt your hands if you accidentally touch the exterior walls.
What we liked most is that the Cosori Air fryer works like an oven, and you try many recipes in it like cakes and other baked items. It can also fit in an 8.5 inches diameter pan if you use standard pans to pour in your cake batter. For the best results, you can cover it with foil, so the circulating air doesn’t change the texture on the top of the cake.
Another small detail that we found beneficial was that when we take out the basket during cooking, the display shuts off, and the timer stops rather than ticking down while we shake or turn the food. When we put the basket back in the air fryer, the display and the timer start automatically to cook the food.
